News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles Celebrates Career Milestone

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Today marks a career milestone for AMS certified and award-winning meteorologist Jed Castles – 25 years of service to Oklahomans while on the News 9 This Morning team.

“I am so thankful to Griffin Communications for what has been a very eventful 25 years of weather coverage and forecasting,” said Castles. “To work alongside many talented meteorologists, anchors and news personnel has been so rewarding. To our viewers – thank you for entrusting me with such an important position over these years and for the personal success that has followed.”

A Tulsa native and 4th generation Oklahoman, Castles’ passion for the weather and forecasting started when he was just 7 years old. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma and has dedicated his professional life to keeping Oklahomans safe, informed and entertained.

“This year marks 35 years I’ve known Jed, and he’s still the same great guy I met in college,” said David Payne, News 9 Chief Meteorologist. “Jed is an Okie through and through. He truly loves Oklahomans, weather and keeping people safe, and I am so appreciative that Jed is on our weather team. He is such a huge part of our continued success.”

Since signing on with News 9 in 1996, Castles has earned a number of awards from professional organizations and associations for his excellence in journalism including first place video from SPJ Oklahoma for his service in the tornado coverage of May 24th, 2008 and an Emmy for Best Morning Newscast in 2011.
