TULSA, Okla. – As part of our mission to keep Oklahomans safe and informed, News On 6 will be airing our “Oklahoma’s Own Originals: Ahead of the Storm” severe weather special on Thursday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m.

“Oklahomans know spring can bring dangerous weather,” said Mark Pinkerton, News On 6 Executive Producer of Special Projects. “Through ‘Ahead of the Storm’, Travis Meyer and the Oklahoma Weather Experts will provide important safety information to help families stay prepared.”

Presented by News On 6 and Green Phoenix Roofing & Remodeling, “Ahead of the Storm” will include in-depth stories from the News On 6 weather team, including Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer’s spring forecast.

“We’re looking forward to this year’s weather special!” said Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer. “This year, for the first time in 3 years, we are moving away from La Liña. The question is: What’s next for Oklahoma? I’ll have a look at what we expect this spring. Plus, I sit down with the one & only Dick Faurot as he proves that retirement ISN’T retirement after all. And, our team will show you how to be ready for severe weather whenever it strikes! We hope you’ll tune in for this year’s ‘Ahead of the Storm’ special!”

Plus, how a new Doppler radar in an Oklahoma town will give advanced warnings, and we’ll introduce the new director of the National Severe Storms Lab in Norman. We’ll also look back at the devastating 1993 Catoosa tornado, 30 years later.

News On 6 will air “Oklahoma’s Own Originals: Ahead of the Storm” on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 6:30-7 p.m.

“Oklahoma’s Own Originals: Ahead of the Storm” joins our lineup of original programming that we’re proud to share with our viewers on News On 6, NewsOn6.com and through our streaming app on Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV.
