OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Spring is coming and storm season in Oklahoma is imminent. Tune in to News 9 on Thursday, April 4 for “Oklahoma’s Own Originals: Ahead of the Storm” at 6:30 p.m.

The special will explore what makes the OKC metro a bullseye for tornadoes compared to any other city on the planet. And find out what it's like to be flying a helicopter when gigantic hail hits. Also, learn what gives News 9's 1,000,000-watt radar so much of an advantage.

“This year's special airs just a month before the 25th anniversary of the May 3rd tornado outbreak” said Chief Meteorologist David Payne. “I was chasing and Jim was in the air. We'll share stories from that day and compare technology then versus now. Also, a look at the spring forecast - are we in for a big spring with more tornadoes?”

Presented by News 9 & Scissortail Roofing and Construction, “Ahead of the Storm” will also include interviews with the largest team of Storm Trackers in the state about the craziest chase of their careers.

News 9 will air “Oklahoma’s Own Originals: Ahead of the Storm” on Thursday, April 4 from 6:30-7:00 p.m.
